R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc Background

R.T. Vanderbilt Company, Inc. first opened its doors for business on Forty-Second Street in New York City in 1916. It was started by a thirty-one year-old named Robert Thurlow Vanderbilt who had $1,000 of his own, a $24,000 family loan, and a contract to sell clay for a company in the southern United States.

Vanderbilt has grown considerably in the intervening century, and in 2013 it was reorganized to form a holding company, Known as R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc., and a number of operating subsidiaries. These include Vanderbilt Chemicals, LLC, which operates chemical manufacturing facilities in Kentucky and Connecticut, and primarily serves the petroleum, rubber, and plastics industries; and Vanderbilt Minerals, LLC, which operates mining and milling facilities in New York, the Carolinas, Nevada, Arizona, and California; and servicing the subsidiaries Vanderbilt Global Services, LLC, a shared services organization that provides support service. These operating companies, Vanderbilt Chemicals and Vanderbilt Minerals, supply industrial chemicals and minerals within the United States and in some eighty countries around the world. In addition to supplying its own chemicals and minerals, Vanderbilt distributes the products of other distinguished companies. The above entities are registered to the ISO 9001 standard, and are certified to The American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care® initiative.

Vanderbilt provides technical and marketing development services through its international subsidiaries: Vanderbilt Worldwide, Ltd., located in Nantwich, UK; Vanderbilt Asia Pacific, Ltd., located in Hong Kong, China; Vanderbilt (Beijing) Trading, Ltd. in China; and Vanderbilt Japan, LLC in Tokyo.

Hugh B. Vanderbilt, Jr.

Chairman & CEO | R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc.

Hugh B. Vanderbilt was elected Chairman & CEO of R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc. in 2013. He is also a long standing member of the R.T. Vanderbilt Board of Directors.

Hugh joined Vanderbilt in 1978 as Advertising Manager and Director of the Board. In 1981, he became Corporate Secretary and was promoted to Purchasing Manager. One year later he was elected Vice Chairman, Vice President – Purchasing.

In 1986, he was elected Vice President of Mining and Manufacturing and by 1991, he was appointed Executive Vice President - Mining and Manufacturing.

In July 1995, he was promoted to President & Chief Operating Officer and in January 1, 1996, elected Chief Executive Officer. During the Board of Directors' Meeting of September 19, 2000, he was elected Chairman of R.T. Vanderbilt. In 2013, Hugh was elected Chairman & CEO of R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc.

Hugh is a graduate of Rollins College with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Business.

Joseph Denaro

Executive Vice President - Treasurer & CFO | R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc.

Joe Denaro is the Executive VP and Treasure & CFO of R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc. He started his career at General Electric, before joining the Company in 1973. He was elected Treasurer in 1983 and Vice President 1987. In 1989, he was elected Chief Financial Officer. In January 1996, he was elected Director of the Board of Directors. In 2013, he became Executive Vice President - Treasurer & CFO of R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc.

Joe is a graduate of Iona College with a B.A. degree in Economics, and holds a M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut. He earned his C.M.A. in 1984.

Paul Vanderbilt

Executive Vice President & Corporate Secretary | R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc.

Paul Vanderbilt is the Executive Vice President & Corporate Secretary of R. T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc. He was elected a Director of the Board of Directors in 1981 and then joined the Company in 1984, as a Para Legal. He was elected Corporate Secretary in 1986 and in 1989, he was elected Vice President. In 2013, he was elected to his current position of Executive Vice President and Secretary of R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc.

Paul is a graduate of the London School of Economics with a Bachelor of Law. He also holds a Master of Law Degree from New York University Law School.

Randall L. Johnson

President | R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc.

Randy Johnson is the President of R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc. Prior to Vanderbilt, he started his career at Ferro Corp as a Ceramic Engineer in the clayware lab, then was quickly promoted to Technical Field Sales Rep. He then moved to Cyprus Minerals-A Wholly Owned Subsidiary of Amoco Oil Corp as a Technical Sales Representative before joining RT Vanderbilt Company, Inc. as the Sales Manager-Ceramics Department in 1984.

In 1992, Randy was promoted to Manager-Minerals Group and in 1998, he was promoted to Vice President-Minerals Sales. In 2001, he was promoted Vice President and Global Business Manager-Minerals Business and by 2013, he became President of Vanderbilt Minerals, LLC. In 2016, he was appointed to his current position, President of the R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc.

Randy is a graduate of Alfred University-College of Ceramics, with a Bachelor of Science in Ceramics Engineering.
